Hi, I’m Kathy — the maker and designer behind Hear I Am Designs.

Hear I Am Designs was created from my own experiences of living with severe hearing loss, Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), and other chronic health conditions. I know first-hand that something as simple as fastening a necklace or putting on a pair of earrings isn’t always easy, and I also understand how important it is to feel confident expressing your own style.

I started wearing hearing aids around 15 years ago, and at first, I found it difficult to accept them. Everything changed when I began decorating them with colourful charms and accessories. Instead of wanting to hide my hearing aids, I wanted to celebrate them. They became part of who I am.

In 2018, I founded Hear I Am Designs to help others do the same.

Today, Hear I Am Designs has grown into an inclusive jewellery and accessories brand, offering beautiful handmade pieces that are thoughtfully designed to be easier to wear. Alongside my hearing aid decorations, you’ll find jewellery with magnetic clasps, magnetic jewellery adaptors, slider and memory wire bracelets, adjustable rings, fidget jewellery, lever-back earrings and other accessible designs that combine style with practicality.

I primarily work with stainless steel and genuine gemstone beads, creating jewellery that’s made to last and designed to be enjoyed every day.

My goal has always been simple: to create jewellery and accessories that help people express themselves with confidence. Whether you wear hearing aids, have reduced dexterity, live with a chronic illness, or simply appreciate jewellery that’s comfortable and easy to wear, you’re very welcome here.
